Through Northern Neighbours Foundation Inc., a grant has been put towards the construction of the running track in Creighton. Jane Robillard, chair of the committee, presented the Running Track Committee with $26,000 on Monday. The committee hopes to have construction underway following the current soccer season. The Running Track Committee has collected nearly $70,000 in funding through different grants for the community project. The track, which will be located around the Creighton Community Soccer Field, will benefit not only those in Creighton, but Flin Flon, Denare Beach and even Cranberry Portage. The track and field team of Creighton Community School will be able to take full advantage of the track. As well as using it for practice, the track can also be used to hold northern events. Ryan Trumbley, a track and field coach for the school as well as a Running Track Committee member, says this will be the first track in the North of this caliber. Northern Neighbours Tending to the needs of residents from Creighton, Flin Flon, Denare Beach, Cranberry Portage, Sherridon and Snow Lake, Northern Neighbours provides a variety of funding opportunities.
