The Flin Flon Bombers are pleased to announce that 1992 born defenseman Josh Roach (Saskatoon, SK) has committed to the University of Saskatchewan Huskies CIS men's hockey team for the 2013-14 season. 'Josh was a huge asset for us last season,' commented Head Coach and GM Mike Reagan. 'He's a big signing for the Huskies.' Roach put up 54 points _ 13 goals and 41 assists _ in 53 games last season for the Bombers after being acquired as futures for forward Andrew Johnston. In total, Roach compiled 148 points _ 43 goals and 105 assists over 203 SJHL games. The Huskies hosted the CIS University Cup last season and again for the 2013-14 hockey season. They finished second in the Canada West with a 19-8-1 record. The Bombers are also pleased to announce that 1992 born defenseman Brandt Weldon (The Pas, MB) has committed to Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons NCAA Division III men's hockey team for the 2013-14 season. Weldon played 118 games with the Bombers compiling 51 points _ 22 goals and 29 assists _ and 159 penalty minutes, after coming over in a trade with the Okotoks Oilers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. His best season was in 2011-12 when he had 31 points _ 15 goals and 16 assists _ in 55 games. 'Brandt is a great guy, great team guy and an excellent player,' said Head Coach and GM Mike Reagan. 'He'll fit in nicely in the NCAA game.' This will make three players from the Bombers going to Concordia, joining forwards Riley Storzuk and Brett Penner. The Falcons finished last season with a 7-18-0 record in a tough Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association. In total, six players are moving on from the 2012-13 edition of the Flin Flon Bombers to post secondary education. Besides the three going to Concordia, Dylan Balaski (SAIT), Konrad Litke (Augustana) and Jason Wark (NAIT) all committed to schools for the upcoming season.
