CBC'S Hockey Night in Canada has announced the latest additions to its broadcast roster, Drew Remenda and Scott Morrison. Remenda, a former three-time Emmy award-winning television analyst for the San Jose Sharks, brings 10 years of NHL broadcast experience to his new role as analyst, while Morrison Ð a 25-year veteran hockey journalist and upcoming recipient of the Hockey Hall of Fame's 2006 Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award Ð joins as a commentator and columnist. Remenda takes his new seat in the CBC broadcast booth this October, joining Harry Neale and Greg Millen Ð the Hockey Night in Canada analyst team. Remenda's extensive history with the NHL dates back to 1991. He spent five years in the coaching ranks with the San Jose Sharks organization. Following his coaching career, Remenda became a broadcast analyst for the Sharks, beginning with radio and then switching to television three years later. The Saskatchewan native currently hosts The Drew Remenda Sports Show, aired on radio stations in Saskatoon and Regina. "Drew's remarkable knowledge and passion for the game of hockey have established him as a true broadcasting professional," said Joel Darling, executive producer, CBC's Hockey Night in Canada. "As a former coach, he sees and understands the game on many levels, and will provide our viewers with clever insights and analysis. Along with Drew, we are also very fortunate to be adding one of the most admired journalists in hockey, Scott Morrison, to our staff. We are thrilled to welcome both Drew and Scott to CBC's Hockey Night in Canada team." Morrison, former President of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association, brings more than two decades of experience as a hockey journalist to his role as columnist and commentator. Each week, Morrison will keep fans on top of all of the breaking news from the world of hockey with reports, columns and blogs. Morrison will also appear on Satellite Hotstove every Saturday night during the second intermission of Game One of the traditional doubleheaders. Additionally, throughout the 2006/07 season, Morrison will make occasional appearances on CBC Radio, CBC Television and CBC Newsworld, reporting on breaking stories from around the NHL. "Scott Morrison is one of the most intelligent and respected hockey writers in the business, and we are pleased to be able to add him to our lineup of reporters and columnists," said Andrew Lundy, senior producer, CBC Sports Online. "He brings a wealth of experience and in-depth hockey knowledge to our team and will provide hockey fans with information that is second-to-none."
