The Weyburn Red Wings have acquired 1987 born forward Sean Bassingthwaite from the Dryden Ice Dogs of the Superior International Junior Hockey League. In exchange for Bassingthwaite, the Wings surrender 1985 born defenseman Dale Logel. Bassingthwaite had requested a trade from the Ice Dogs during the off-season.Ê According to Weyburn GM Ron Rumball, Bassingthwaite was an impact player as a 17-year-old with Dryden, winning their team Rookie of the Year. Bassingthwaite is said to be a fluid skater and the 6-2, 195 pound native of Red Lake, Ontario has been skating with the Wings for the last few days and could be in the line-up as soon as Friday night when Weyburn plays host to the Estevan Bruins. Logel has two assists in eight games with the Red Wings this season.Ê He goes to a team that is coached by ex-Flin Flon and former La Ronge bench boss Larry Wintoneak.Ê Ex-Melville Millionaire forward Scott Klein leads the Dogs in scoring with 14-points in 7-games. Meanwhile, in another move announced on Thursday, the Humboldt Broncos traded 1987 born defenseman Russell Billett to the Kindersley Klippers for future considerations. Billett, 6'3" 180 pound from Milden, was pointless in four games with Humboldt this season.Ê He is presently with the Klippers on their trip to Flin Flon for two games this weekend.10/17/2005
