The Weyburn Red Wings have a strangle hold on the Humboldt Broncos, as they took a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series with a 3-2 win on Tuesday night. Justin Schmidt and Ryan Kuntz had first period goals for the Wings. Humboldt's Arlen Marshall scored the only goal of the second period, and the teams exchanged goals in the third period, with Schmidt and Marshall scoring their second goals of the game for their respective teams. Humboldt held a 34-31 edge in shots, but Brenden Cuthbert improved his playoff record to 3-0 this year with the win. The Nipawin Hawks continue to be dominating on the ice, but for the second time in three games ran into a nearly unbeatable Aaron Forer in the Melfort net, as the Mustangs took a 2-1 lead in the elimination series with a 3-2 win on Tuesday. Matt Fennell, Kurtis Astle and Nathan Brummitt had the goals for the Mustangs, while Kyle Krunick and Mike Bulawka scored for the Hawks. The Hawks out shot the Mustangs 39-20, and scored two power play goals on 11 chances. Melfort scored on two of their ten advantages.
