The Flin Flon Bombers extended their winning streak to six games over the weekend.
Flin Flon downed Yorkton 4-2 on Friday, Jan. 13 and shut out Notre Dame 4-0 on Saturday, Jan. 14. The Bombers have not lost since the Christmas break.
“I have been impressed with how bad this group wants to win,” said head coach Mike Reagan.
Last week also saw the Bombers add to their leadership group. Brandon Masson was named an alternate captain for home games. Eric Sinclair will wear an “A” on the road.
They join fellow letter-wearing assistant captains Greyson Reitmeier and Kristian St. Onge as well as captain Braden Lacoursiere.
Saturday saw Flin Flon outshoot Notre Dame 53-22. Bombers goalie Brenden Newton earned his second shutout of the season. Reagan said Saturday’s matchup felt like a playoff-type game.
“We were really physical,” said Reagan, noting that forward Greyson Reitmeier had 10 hits alone.
The Bombers are in Yorkton this Friday and Saturday for a two-game set with the Terriers. Friday’s contest marks the expected debut of recently acquired forward Teal Sobkowicz.
