Kelly Carrington Staff Writer Following a year that failed to meet expectations, the Flin Flon Bombers organization held its annual general meeting June 1 to look at the season that was and prepare for the one to come. Head coach and GM Mike Reagan spoke to those in attendance regarding the success of the team last season as well as a report on where the team stands now. He spoke on the recruitment being done over the course of the offseason. As the Bombers will be a younger team this season, newly elected president Henry Kosar says it's going to be a building year. "We're happy with what [Reagan] has coming in," said Kosar. Preparing With the Royal Bank Cup in Humboldt this coming season, the Bombers are preparing for 2011-12 but also putting focus on the following season. "We're not giving up on this year, but we're building for next year," said Kosar, who returned as president after taking one term off. "We're building for the future and hoping to be successful." A key point of discussion at the AGM revolved around the financial state of the organization. The Bombers lost $23,000 last season, and it would have been more had they not been able to host a game with Team Sweden. Kosar says a major contributor to the loss was the lower volume of walk-up ticket sales. As well, the team didn't bring in as much money as they had hoped in fundraisers. Some good financial news came this past season as the team was able to pay off two substantial debts. See 'Kosar...' on pg. 11 Coneinued from pg. 5 The first was paid to the City of Flin Flon, paying off the remainder of a loan received in the 1980s. Money from the Bomber Burst campaign helped to pay off that debt as well as an account with Community Futures Greenstone nearing $50,000. "Those are two huge debt loads off our backs," said Kosar. To help keep things on track, the team has set a goal of selling 800 season tickets for 2011-12. Needing to generate an extra $70,000 in season tickets, walk-up tickets, sponsorships and fundraisers, Kosar hopes the organization will break even this season, if not bring in a few dollars to pay off some small debts. Thank You Richard French played the role of Bomber president for two years, but knew his time was up on June 1. He took the time to thank those who supported and helped him along the way.
