Bust the Winter Blues On Feb. 12, if you're craving pancakes for breakfast, then you should go to the Friendship Centre at 8 a.m. Once you've had time to digest those pancakes, head to Ross Lake at Noon to watch the Sled Dog races. There will also be snowshoe racing and snowman building along with family and trappers events. At 1 p.m. there will be the family curling bonspiel at Willow Park Curling Rink and a crib tournament in the Friendship Centre's main hall. Following those two events will be a senior card tournament, which takes place at the Creighton Centennial Building and the Pluck-a-Duck event at the Aqua Centre at 7 p.m. Snowmobile Safety Tips Defensive Driving Always be alert of potential danger. Your helmet and engine noise can impair your hearing. Visability is also reduced in conditions of snowfall, blowing snow and night driving. Never assume what another snowmobiler will do. Do all that you can to ensure your safety and that of other riders. Expect the unexpected! Watch out for: á Thin ice and open water áGrooming equipment áOncoming snowmobiles áUnforeseen obstacles beneath snow áUnexpected corners, intersections and stops á Road and railway crossings áLogging/Forestry operations áSnow banks and drifting snow á Trees and branches on the trail áBridges and approaches áWildlife and domestic animals áOther trail users (skiers, hikers) For more information on snowmobiling, go to www.snoman.mb.ca/safety.htm
