To remove tar, grease, and oil from your wheels, remove the contaminated wheel from your skate using a K-Tool, 4-mm Allen wrench, or an equivalent. 2. Dip a clean, soft, dry cloth in Mineral Spirits No.10, Varsol, or Paint Thinner. 3. Rub the surface of the wheel to remove the tar, grease, and/or oil. 4. Wipe away any excess solvent with a second clean, soft, dry cloth. 5. Replace the clean wheel. 6. You can also do a general cleaning of your wheels at the same time to remove dirt, mud, and grime. To remove dirt, mud, and grime from your wheels, remove the wheels from your skates. 8. Wipe the tire surfaces with a cloth that's damp with water. 9. Using a small, soft brush or pipe cleaner, clean the nooks and crannies between the hubs and spokes. 10. Replace the wheels on your skates.
