Coach and GM Mike Reagan's overhaul of the Flin Flon Bombers' blueline continued last week. The Bombers acquired blueliner Jean-Sebastien Bergeron from the Weyburn Red Wings in exchange for Ethan Gardner. Reagan says the 19-year-old Quebec native will bring a lot to the table. "He's a good skater and he moves the puck well," he says, adding that "in this day you have to be able to skate and move around, and that's what we're looking for." Reagan was in Quebec in May to recruit other players when Bergeron caught his eye. "I knew he was protected by the Weyburn Red Wings, but once I got back we tried for him," he says. In 54 games last season, the 5 ft. 11 in., 190-lb. defenceman collected three goals and 11 assists to go along with 82 penalty minutes. "Jean-Sebastien has the experience we are looking for," says Reagan, mentioning that "anytime you can get a little deeper on defense, you need to make that move." "You can never have too many defencemen," he adds. Reagan says Bergeron will be able to bring his playoff experience to help the team. "Last year we were a little poor on the experience side of things, but now having Jean-Sebastien, we've upgraded our back end, and we're feeling comfortable with the team," says Reagan. "Well, sure," he adds, "if something comes along we'll take a look at it, but right now we're feeling very comfortable." Coach Reagan adds, "there have been lots of moves made this summer, and Jean-Sebastien says that's one of the things that he liked about the team." The Bergeron trade also included future considerations to be agreed upon by both teams.
