Kelly Carrington Staff Writer Though the Bombers sat fifth in the Bauer Conference as of Monday morning, head coach and GM Mike Reagan says there is still a chance the Bombers can take the third spot. "I wouldn't say we're [in the elimination series] yet. I don't think we're done yet," said the coach in an interview last week. With three games against the Battlefords North Stars and three games against the Nipawin Hawks still to come, Reagan noted there are 12 points available. "Are we going to need to win some big games here?" he asked. "For sure. But they're all head-to-head games against teams that we're going against." Reagan says the team will look to each game as they come. This past weekend, the Bombers split a two-game series with the Melfort Mustangs. Last night, the Bombers were in Nipawin (which leaves only two games left against the Hawks in the regular season). Health key Taking one game at a time, Reagan says he also wants to make sure he has a healthy team. "We want to make sure that we're healthy going into the playoffs," he said. "We don't have the deepest of teams, we understand that, but we've got to be healthy and we've got to have our guys feeling good about themselves." As of press time Monday, the Bombers sat in fifth place of the Bauer Conference with 22 wins, 27 losses and two overtime losses in 51 games. Sitting with 46 points, the Bombers were 30 points behind the La Ronge Ice Wolves, who claimed first place not only in the Bauer Conference, but the SJHL. Taking up sixth place in the same conference were the Nipawin Hawks with 16 wins and 29 losses in 49 games. As well, the team gathered three overtime losses and one shootout loss, good for 36 points. The Battlefords North Stars, the second team the Bombers hoped to steal points from this season, sat one place above Flin Flon with 23 wins and 25 losses in 51 games. Two overtime losses and one shootout loss left the North Stars with 49 points. The Bombers and North Stars are preparing for a double-header weekend at the Whitney Forum, where Flin Flon hopes to take four points.
