The Support Our Troops message will be hitting Flin Flon as the Bomber Booster Group sells tickets on two special hockey sticks relaying the important message. According to organizer Karen Bettger, the Loonie Stick Draw is a fundraiser for two things. "It's a fundraiser for the (Booster) group, but as well for Remembrance Day weekend," she says. She adds, "we wanted to honour the veterans and acknowledge the men and women serving in the armed forces from the community." In February about four men from the Flin Flon area will be deployed to Afghanistan, one of whom is Bettger's son. "This is just really important," says Bettger. Bettger adds there are probably even more she just doesn't know about. The draw for the sticks will be done at the Bomber's home game tonight against the Yorkton Terriers. One stick is a skater's stick while the other is a goalie stick. Tickets will be available during tonight's game.
