Culture, Heritage, Tourism and Sport Minister Eric Robinson congratulated the Jennifer Jones team on Monday, which beat Alberta in SundayÕs final at the 2008 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Regina.Ê The win gives the team the honour of representing Canada at the womenÕs world curling championship tournament in March.Ê ÒCurling has a proud history in Manitoba and once more our athletes have demonstrated their incredible skill and talent,Ó said Robinson.ÊÒI commend the Jones team for pushing through the Scotties tournament with their second win and once again putting our province on the map with curling elite from around the world.ÓÊ Robinson noted Jones, Cathy Overton-Clapham, Jill Officer and Dawn Askin join ManitobaÕs junior womenÕs champions Kaitlyn Lawes, Jenna Loder, Liz Peters and Sarah Wazney in recent curling victories for Manitoba. The 2008 Ford WomenÕs World Curling Championship will take place March 22 to 30 in Vernon, B.C. Robinson stated that, in 2005, Jones led her team to a Canadian team championship and received ÊSport ManitobaÕs Silver Medallion Award of Excellence.
