The score didn't matter during a game between the local police and firefighters at the Whitney Forum. "Everyone was having a good time, that's what counts," said Rob Trubiak, a member of the firefighter squad on Sunday. "It's basically just coming out, rubbing shoulders with your local emergency services Ð having a good time, having a few beers after the game." A small crowd took in the action. There was everything from good plays and a few hits to goals that would make Don Cherry proud. There were also a few surprises with a firefighter serving a penalty and, before that, a player from the police team rubbing his sweaty glove in an opponent's face after a goal. "It's good, it's pretty stiff (the competition)," said Bryan Bowskill, a member of the police team. Bowskill said these gatherings build camaraderie. "We don't see a lot of each other out in the street," he explained, breathing a bit heavy following the game. "They know who we are and we know who they are. It's nice to sit down and go out with these guys." The police squad likely had an unfair advantage as they recruited a young netminder in Blair Chaisson, who played with the Midget AA Bombers this past season. "I do my best to round up some pretty decent hockey players myself so, it's always fun," Bowskill said. While Blair played a good game, he was beat on a tough fourth goal he had no chance on that went high on his glove side. "It hit two sticks before it went in. I lost track of it," Blair said. "It was really fun. I'm glad I played." The police won 7-5.
