Flin Flon's Community In Motion committee has been hard at work planning activities for everyone to get in motion. Jason Mandes, co-chair of the committee, said the group met on Monday morning and brainstormed several activities for the year. The events are directed towards everyone. "It was very productive and everyone had great ideas while tweaking a few," Mandes said. "I am pretty excited." Jill Spiller, a member of the committee, feels the group got a lot accomplished and that there are some good activities planned. Since the spring the committee has been coming up with ideas and now it's just a matter of getting things going. "We have an active group so it shouldn't be hard," Spiller said. The first event to kick things off starts tomorrow with the Poker Derby at the Community Hall at 11:30 a.m. This event, which has people go to various locations uptown to build the best poker hand and win prizes, celebrates the first anniversary of Manitoba in Motion Program. Spiller said she thinks participation will be good. "Ruth Betts is participating so that's good," she said. "We'd like to see people from The Reminder, HBMS, the banks, even some of the members from Curves. Any businesses that don't will be put in The Reminder. Let's see some of the RCMP."
