Kelly Carrington Staff Writer A low number of poker players didn't stop the Rotary Club of Flin Flon from raising $2,000 for the community. Holding their second annual Poker Tournament at the Elks Hall earlier this month, 54 players showed up for the day-long event. Rotarian Tim Smith, the organizer, says there were a few things going on in the community Nov. 6, but he had hoped to see a better turnout. "It was a disappointment in that regard, but it was a success in other ways," he said. Nonetheless, Smith says everyone who attended had a good time. "It was well received and people asked when the next one would be," he said. The Rotary Club is planning the next Poker Tournament for April. Much like this event, which had a $160 entry fee per person, the tournament in April will help the community. "It goes into the projects in the community (and) the numerous things we do," said Smith. Players from the Flin Flon and Creighton area participated as well as a a few out-of-town players Ð including Sean Nabes of The Pas, who took first place. Here are the top 15 players of the tournament and their cash outs: Sean Nabes - $2,038.40 Bob Bensen - $1,164.80 Jamie Kozar - $582.40 Gary Lahonen - $291.20 Treasure Daneliuk - $232.96 Karen Roy - $232.96 Jon Alexander - $174.72 Al Chatfield - $174.72 Larry D'Aoust - $174.72 Ryan Daneliuk - $174.72 Trevor Watt - $116.48 Harold Harris - $116.48 Richard Masson - $116.48 Aaron Umperville - $116.48 Bill Jackson - $116.48
