SJHL Defenseman of the week Winner:Ê Michael Young, Flin Flon Bombers Highlights:Ê Young had one assist in four games played over the last week, but it was his play in the defensive zone that enabled him to come through with the weekly nod.Ê Young has stepped up to become one of the leaders on the back end for the Bombers, and even in a game five loss in Melfort on Saturday night, it was Young who tried leading the way with some timely hits, a couple of blocked shots, and steady first passes out of the defensive zone.Ê His overall decision making continues to improve and he is making the necessary steps toward becoming one of the elite defensemen in the SJHL. Runners-up:Ê Jordan Reeve, Melville; Tanner Vandesype, Humboldt; Stephen Simms, Weyburn. SJHL Forward of the week Winner:Ê Jonathan Redlick, Kindersley Klippers Highlights: The Klippers piggy-backed the play of their top line on their way to a five game series victory over the Weyburn Red Wings and Redlick may have been the most dangerous of the Brett Leedahl-Ryan Sawka-Redlick trio.Ê Redlick scored the double OT winner in game fiveÕs elimination match.Ê He also had two goals and two assists in game four, which saw the Klippers go up 2-1.Ê In a game three loss, Redlick had a goal and two helpers.Ê For the playoffs so far, he has five goals and 10 points in eight games. Runners-up:Ê Jordan Schindel, Humboldt; Brett Leedahl & Ryan Sawka, Kindersley; Dennis Kubat, Flin Flon. SJHL Goaltender of the week Winner:Ê Joe Rodwell, Melville Millionaires Highlights:Ê Rodwell, uncharacteristically, gave up four goals in a game three win over Yorkton last Tuesday night; but he responded by blanking the Terriers in game four as the Mils completed a sweep to advance to the Sherwood Conference finals.Ê Rodwell has been so steady, he has a 0.78 GAA in the playoffs if you throw out the one game from last week.Ê He has two shutouts and has allowed one goal or less in five of his seven starts. Runners-up:Ê Carsen Chubak, Flin Flon; Ilia Ejov, Melfort.
