SJHL Player Of The Week Cole Wilson, Flin Flon Bombers 1990 F Cole Wilson (Wilcox SK) used the Christmas break to full recover from a pre-Christmas injury layoff and rung in the New Year with three goals and two assists in two games played. He began the week, on Friday, with a four point effort against the La Ronge Ice Wolves. He followed that up with a goal one night later against Notre Dame. Wilson, one of the SJHL's top marksmen, has 16 goals and 12 assists in 20 games on the year. Runners-up: Mike Rey, Nipawin; Richard Jodoin, Estevan; Brody Haygarth, Estevan; Reid MacLeod, Flin Flon. SJHL Defenseman Of The Week Winner: David Hay, Nipawin Hawks 1989 D David Hay (Quesnel BC) doesn't get many points so you won't see his name on the scoresheet often. But, that doesn't mean Hay isn't emerging as one of the more quality defensemen in the SJHL. Hay helped anchor the Hawk blueline to a pair of wins in three games played after the Christmas Break. The Hawks also allowed only six goals in the three games. Runners-up: Jordan Reeve, Melville; Greg Coburn, Yorkton; Colton MacPherson, Estevan. SJHL Goaltender Of The Week Winner: Mark Currie, Nipawin Hawks 1988 G Mark Currie (Abbotsford BC) returned to SJHL duty after a six week absence and suited up for a new club, registering a shutout along the way. Currie went 2-0 with a 2.00-GAA and a .953-SPCT in blanking the Melfort Mustangs with a 39 save shutout on Friday night. One night later, he made 42 saves against the Mustangs as Nipawin completed the home and home sweep. Runners-up: Ryan Nieszner, Kindersley; Andrew Bodnarchuk, Humboldt; Jeff Holloway, Humboldt.
