Hockey players between the ages of seven and 14 learned a few new tricks of the trade last week as the Whitney Forum and City of Flin Flon hosted a Spring Skills and Drills Mini Camp. Trent Boak and son Ryan helped the skaters on their skating, stickhandling, passing, shooting and body checking. Goalies were also given a few pointers throughout the week. Each day the players were given two on-ice sessions of 75 minutes and a 90-minute game on the last day. With about 120 skaters on the ice, rink manager Guy (Beastie) Rideout says he was pleased that three girls were among those out on the ice. The young hockey players were also in for a treat as two Junior Bombers helped out with each session. Although this is the first year for the camp, organizers are hoping to make it an annual event for the kids. ÒKids are always looking for something to do over the break,Ó says Rideout.
