Player of the Week: Dominic Cote, Estevan Bruins The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League is pleased to announce Estevan forward Dominic Cote as the Midwest Sportswear Ltd. Player of the Week for the period ending November 21st. The 19-year-old Cote sealed the weekly honor by collecting four goals and one assist in a 9-2 romp over the Melfort Mustangs on Friday night. Cote also had one goal and one assist in a 4-1 decision over Weyburn on Tuesday. A native of Lampman, Cote has 28 points in 25 games this season with thirteen goals and fifteen assists. Those totals are good for tops on the team and seventh in the SJHL. Cote's linemate, Kyle Pellerin, was a close runner up. Pellerin had two goals and six assists in two games last week as the Bruins continue their hot streak with just one loss in their last fifteen. Other notables were Eric Boisvert from Notre Dame and Adam Thordarson in Melville. Defenseman of the Week: Cody Vaughan, Kindersley Klippers The SJHL Defenseman of the Week is 20-year-old Cody Vaughan of the Kindersley Klippers. The Gull Lake native is one of many talented blueliners on the Klippers; and he earned notice with a pair of two assist games over the last seven days. Vaughan set up a pair of Klipper goals in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Flin Flon Bombers. He also had two helpers in a 7-4 win over La Ronge on Tuesday. Three of the top four scoring defensemen in the SJHL are on the Klipper roster. Vaughan has one goal and 15 assists in 26 games. Gio Flamminio and Brady Larock (who has seen time on forward) are also in the top four. Vaughan edged out Melville's Chris de Bruyn and Battlefords' Fraser Allan to get the nod. Goaltender of the Week: Francois Laverdiere, Flin Flon Bombers The SJHL Goaltender of the Week is 20-year-old Francois Laverdiere of the Flin Flon Bombers. Laverdiere returned from a shoulder injury to make 46 saves in Tuesday's 3-2 Flin Flon victory over the Yorkton Terriers. He also made 45 stops to preserve a 2-2 draw against the Nipawin Hawks on Friday. Originally from Quebec City, Laverdiere may have turned the corner on his season, personally, and is now 4-13-2, 3.78, .902 overall. Dustin MacDonald of the Stars, and Weyburn's Brenden Cuthbert each had shutouts in their only appearances of the week to earn runner-up status. Cote receives a product from Midwest Sportswear Ltd; while Cote, Vaughan, and Laverdiere all get undergarment wear from ITECH.
