The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League is pleased to announce La Ronge Ice Wolves forward Kyle GladueÊas the Midwest Sportswear Ltd. Player of the Week for the period ending February 22nd. The 20-year-old Gladue scored three goals and five assists in three games last week to help the Ice Wolves push their way into second place in the Itech Conference. La Ronge finished the season with a ten game unbeaten streak and Gladue was a big part of the hot spell. Gladue finished the season with the league lead in goals with 33. He had 59 points in 52 games and will be expected to be a major contributor when the playoffs begin this weekend. Gladue was just one of a number of La Ronge players to excel last week. Doug Exner, Jeff Marshall, and Tanner Shultz were also considered for the weekly award. Humboldt's Alex Lussier also made the short list. Defenseman of the Week:ÊJoey Eaton, Humboldt Broncos The SJHL Defenseman of the Week is 20-year-old Joey Eaton of the Humboldt Broncos. The homegrown product from Humboldt, was the top scoring SJHL defenseman last week with five points in five games played.ÊÊ Eaton played 47 games this season and ended up scoring two goals and 20 assists. Eaton, who is already an important member of the blueline in Humboldt, was asked to log extra ice time and shoulder more of a burden in the last week or so as fellow vets Bryan Lewis and Shane Smith missed time due to injury. See 'Goaltender' P.# Con't from P.# Other players worth mentioning that finished the season on a strong note include Fritz Sauter of Flin Flon, Notre Dame's Brennan Turner, Scott Collier from Estevan, and Drew Rose of La Ronge. Goaltender of the Week: Aaron Forer, Melfort Mustangs The SJHL Goaltender of the Week is 20-year-old Aaron Forer of the Melfort Mustangs. With the number one goaltender job apparently wide open in Melfort as they headed into the playoffs, Forer seized the opportunity.ÊForer went 2-and-1 with a 1.41 GAA and .944 SPCT.ÊIncluded in the three games was a shutout of the league's most potent offense, the Yorkton Terriers, on Saturday night. For the season, Forer finishes 15-20-and-2 with a 3.51 GAA and .896 SPCT. Other candidates this week were Estevan's Juliano Pagliero and Weyburn's Brenden Cuthbert. Gladue receives a product from Midwest Sportswear Limited.Ê Gladue, Eaton, and Forer all get undergarment wear from ITECH. It's the final Player of the Week award of the season.
