Summer as we know it has come and gone, and while many sports are making their way out of the picture, bowling is just coming in. Pinheads Bowling Alley has opened its doors for another season and new owner Jennifer Hysert (nee Richard) says after being closed for the summer, she's anxious to get things started again. As for the reason to keep the alley closed during the summer, she says "it's the only feasible way to run a bowling alley." In that aspect, there isn't enough interest in summer months to cover the cost of staff and power along with other things that come with keeping it open. "There just isn't enough demand," says Hysert. Hysert, who along with Brenda Henderson took over the bowling alley last November, says the main goal right now is to keep things running and keeping the interest up. "This is the only bowling alley for miles around, so we hope it stays active this year," says a hopeful Hysert. "We're working on getting our numbers up by building leagues, events, camps, parties and other things," she says. According to Hysert, the best case scenario would be to have the building at maximum capacity. "We would have 35 members in a league, or even 48, but that would be a little cramped, so I guess 35 members," she says. As far as the future goes, Hysert says she's looking forward to booking events like Christmas parties and birthdays. Dates for leagues are as follows: Monday - closed Tuesday - Golden Agers Wednesday - Pinups women's league and The Elks League Thursday - open Friday - mixed couples Saturday - YBC and The Special O's Sunday - Flin Flin and The Pas league.
