Chris Pache will be an energetic pest as he tries to earn a roster spot with the Flin Flon Bombers. "I usually get under the players' skin," said Pache, who was recently signed by the team. "I don't give up." The 5-10, 175-pound center badly wants to be a Bomber. "I've always wanted to play for Flin Flon," he said, from Winnipeg. The feeling is mutual as the Bombers have eyed him since he was 14 and attended a rookie camp. He also caught the attention of the Langley Chiefs in the BCHL and the Winnipeg Saints of the MJHL. "The main reasons I want to play hockey for the Bombers is because I hear it's a super big hockey town. I love hockey. It seems like a good place to live," he explained. "I want to play in the SJHL and Doug's (Stokes) a good coach and I will learn a lot." Last season with the North Winnipeg Satelites, which Stokes coached, Pache played in 32 games and scored 20 goals, 24 assists for 44 points and 118 penalty minutes. "He was one of the top players in the league," the Bombers coach said. Stokes likes Pache's confidence, which he said people could be perceived as arrogance. "He's had success at every level and has good work ethic," Stokes continued. "He's the first guy on the ice and last one off." Turning 18 on Dec. 26, Pache has been preparing himself for training camp and feels his chances of making the team are good. "I know I'm going to play," he said. Pache has played junior B the last two seasons after playing Midget AA and wants to make a difference with the Bombers. However, he knows there will be a transition from junior B, but feels the biggest adjustment he will make is playing more organized on the ice. "It's going to be more high tempo and better hockey," he said. Stokes feels that Pache needs to work on his defensive game, but sees huge upside. The coach said that Pache is a skilled kid who has to learn the positioning of the game and playing without the puck. "He will fill in a fourth line role playing eight to 10 minutes a game," Stokes explained. "That could be an adjustment from playing 30." "I want to be one of the best players in the league next year," said Pache, as he's shooting for 35-40 points this season. "I'm really excited to come," Pache said. "If they do pick me, I will bring something every single game."
