A teenage broom ball player from Pelican Narrows competed in this week’s 2016 Saskatchewan First Nations Winter Games.

Chasity McCallum, 16, was part of the women’s juvenile team at the games, held in Onion Lake, reports the Lloydminster Meridian Booster.

McCallum, who was eyeing a podium finish, told the newspaper that she hopes to one day represent her country at the Olympics as a hockey player.

She previously represented Team Saskatchewan at the 2014 North Indigenous Games, winning two gold medals and silver in canoeing, the newspaper noted.

“I like playing with different people and making new friends at the games,” McCallum told the Meridian Booster.
