With the Atom A Provincials last weekend, the Peewee A Bombers are getting ready to take over the Whitney Forum with teams coming from Flin Flon, The Pas, Portage, Dauphin, Brandon, Thompson, Swan and Steinbach. Bomber coach Terry Grindle says he feels the team is prepared for the tournament. ÒThis is what we work for,Ó he says. ÒAll the tournaments are practice to get ready for the Provincials.Ó The rink will be filled with 11 and 12 year olds all weekend as the Peewee teams hope to make it SundayÕs final game. ÒIÕm excited for the players,Ó says the coach. ÒI do get excited, but itÕs more for the players than anything.Ó The 15-skater and two-goalie team has had the advantage of playing The Pas and Thompson, along with a few other teams, but Grindle says there are some challenges that come to mind. ÒAll the teams in the North have played together, we know them and weÕre all pretty close in our games. But we donÕt know Brandon, Steinbach or Portage.Ó According to the coach, The Pas has always given the team a run for their money, but he says, thatÕs typical of the strong team. But the team does go into the Provincials with a leg up as the majority of the players know what it takes to win, as they have been in this position before. ÒIt depends on what team weÕre playing and they have a lot on their minds,Ó says Grindle, adding that the team knows how to stay focused and they should do well. Grindle, along with the Bombers, hope to see lots of people coming out to watch the game as the coach says it should be entertaining hockey. ÒIt would be nice for the kids of lots of people came out to watch them.Ó
