Jonathon Naylor Editor The battered Flin Flon Bombers saw their winless skid stretch to six games last week after a bitter overtime loss to the Yorkton Terriers. None of Flin Flon's key injured players _ Dylan Balaski, Jesse Mysiorek and Landon Hiebert _ were able to return to the lineup as the Terriers notched a 3-2 victory last Wednesday, Jan. 25. Yorkton's win came from the unlikeliest of sources as rearguard Chase Norrish (Tyler Giebel, Kelly Leismeister) potted just his fifth goal of the season for the OT winner. The Bombers at no point held the lead as Riley Storzuk (James McNulty) notched his 19th goal of the season in the second period and blueliner Brandt Weldon (Brett Penner, Konrad Litke) earned his eighth in the third. Also scoring for Yorkton were Curtis Oliver (unassisted) and Brady Norrish (Brenden Poncelet, Keven Cann). Evenly matched in the standings, the Bombers and Terriers were also evenly matched in shots on goal at 29 apiece. Flin Flon turned it on in overtime, however, outshooting their opponents 7-3. Bombers coach Mike Reagan gave Andy Desautels the nod in net following two losses the previous weekend with Devin Buffalo guarding the mesh. Many of the 601 Bomber faithful in attendance found fault with the reffing _ and as usual weren't shy about voicing their opinions using colourful language. Yorkton went one for four on the powerplay, while Flin Flon failed to capitalize on three opportunities with the man advantage. The loss pushed Flin Flon down to fifth place in the Bauer Conference, though the Bombers had two dates with the Humboldt Broncos over the weekend, after The Reminder went to press. Heading into the weekend, the Bombers had not won since their shootout victory over the Melville Millionaires on Jan. 11. The Bombers are already guaranteed a playoff spot, but whether they enter through the Survivor Series of the conference semi-finals remains to be seen.
