Eight local dart players will be competing at the Manitoba Darts Championships this weekend, March 26-28, in Winnipeg to try and represent the Province in PEI in June. This year's event will be held over three days at the Howard Johnson in Winnipeg. Perry Burton, Garry Lyons, Lawrence Balfour and Brian Humphreys will be trying to reach the final eight, while Dot Nash, Shannon Reimer, Gwen Blatz and Jackie Davis will have their eyes on a ladies team shirt. The men will be facing some tough opposition in their quest as they will be competing against the current Canadian Men Singles Champion Rory Orvis and Gerry Converoy the current Number 1 ranked player in the NDFC ranking list. Last year Kevin Nash and Brian Humphreys were part of the Manitoba men's team that took the bronze medal in the Nordor Cup held during the week of the National Championships in Saint John, New Brunswick.
