The Norman 'AAA' Midget Northstars were on the road for four games this past weekend, picking up three points to remain in a tie for second place in the Manitoba 'AAA' Midget League. On Thursday, the Northstars blew a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 in overtime to the Parkland Rangers, earning a single point. The team was in Brandon on Friday, where the 'AAA' Wheat Kings stretched their win streak to five games with a 7-2 drubbing of the Northstars. Richard Dupre scored both goals for Norman. Dupre added his third goal of the trip in Norman's 5-2 loss to the Yellowhead Chiefs on Saturday. The Chiefs scored five times in the second and third periods to take the win. Norman's lone win of the trip came on Sunday, as the Northstars pounded the Parkland Rangers 6-2. Norman scored all of their goals in the second period. Dupre had a goal and an assist, and Kyle Assie also scored for Norman. Dupre now leads the league with 12 goals and 18 points after 11 games. The Winnipeg Thrashers and Pembina Valley Hawks are tied for first place with 15 points, while the Northstars and Brandon Wheat Kings are tied for second place with 13 points. However, the Wheat Kings have three games in hand over the Northstars. - T.B.
