Thompson hosted another extrememly successful Norman Regional Winter Games in February where over 500 athletes from 18 communities competed in seven sports including badminton, men's basketball, 5 and 10 pin bowling, hockey, indoor soccer and co-ed volleyball. Competitiors from Brochet, Cross Lake, Grand Rapids, Garden Hill, God's Lake Narrows, Leaf Rapids, Nelson House, Norway House, Oxford House, Pukatawagan, St. Theresa Point, Shamattawa, Snow Lake, South Indian Lake, Split Lake, The Pas, OCN, Thompson and Wabowden competed for gold, silver and bronze medals. The purpose of the games is to develop sport in northern Manitoba for athletes 10 and up, and enable northerners to gather for friendly competition annually. Congratulations to all competitors, coaches and communities for making the Games a huge success.
