For the second year in a row, the fishermen at the Richard Beasley Memorial Tournament walked away empty handed in terms of fish. But the March 15 event wasnÕt a loss as organizer Chuck Woods says they were still able to reach their main goal. ÒIt helps to remember our friend....and we donate to three charities,Ó he says. Each year the group splits the money four ways. One part is sent to the ParkinsonÕs Society, which the late RichardÕs father suffers from. Second, part of the money is given to the Flin Flon and Creighton SPCA and third, the money goes to the Dorion Simon Bursary fund. The final part of the money is kept to purchase prizes for next years event. ÒWeÕre still working on final numbers,Ó said Woods last Thursday afternoon. With around 200 people out on Athapap Lake, Woods says it was a good time had by all. ÒRemember, a bad day fishing is a good day away from work,Ó he said with a laugh.
