Not being able to book midway attractions for July, the Village of Denare Beach has canceled Beaver Lake Day. The fun-filled day, which typically follows the last Sunday of Flin Flon's Trout Festival, was unable to run for the same reason last year. Jennifer Donaghy, recreation director in Denare Beach, hopes to be able to start booking through a different group for next year, noting that the workers with the midway attractions coming to Flin Flon for Trout Festival have agreed to take a look in Denare Beach to see if there is a suitable enough space. The midway carries everything from rides, games, food and prizes and Donaghy says it's a big attraction to the Beaver Lake Day. So, this year, like last year, the Village will rely on their Canada Day celebrations as their fun and enjoyment for the kickoff of the summer. "We (feel) that we (do) a lot of activities on Canada Day and there was no point in repeating (it)," said Donaghy, who returned to the position in Denare Beach this past December. May Calendar With it being just a few days into the month of May, Donaghy has come up with a few ideas and activities for families to participate in. Last Sunday, roughly 50 people were out helping to pick up garbage from around the community. With seven truck fulls taken the dump, the Village is looking a little cleaner. Residents cleaned not only their properties this past weekend, but also helped to clean up their neighbourhoods as well. To keep the Village looking nice, the Spring Clean-up will be getting underway next week where residents have the opportunity to get rid of yard clippings and trimmings. And once more with the clean up, the Village is hosting a community-wide yard sale at the end of the month. "We're trying to get everyone coordinated and to have a big day," said Donaghy.
