Saskatchewan’s largest newspaper gave the Flin Flon Bombers – and their championship aspirations – some ink this week.
An article titled “Bombers taking flight in SJHL’s toughest division” appeared on the Saskatoon StarPhoenix website on Tuesday, Jan. 12.
“After some early-season bloops and blunders, the Flin Flon Bombers have built themselves into a legitimate contender in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League,” begins sportswriter Darren Zary.
Zary points to Flin Flon’s 15-3-0 record since Nov. 14, with head coach and GM Mike Reagan quoted as saying, “We felt it was a matter of time before we got healthy and our season has turned around.”
Though the Bombers have “lost a little size” by trading Michael Knaub, Matthew Smishek, Holden Daley and Joel Webb, “they’ve become a little more skilled in return,” Zary writes.
Flin Flon is back in action tonight, Friday, in La Ronge before returning home tomorrow, Saturday, to face the Ice Wolves on home turf. The puck will drop at 7:30.
