Early last week, the Flin Flon Ski Club held an information meeting. It was the best attended in living memory, according to Dave Price, as 10 ski enthusiasts showed up. Thanks to the healthy turn out, the Club was able to fill all of the vacant positions on their executive. The executive is as follows: President - Larry Linnick Vice-president - Dave Price Treasurer - Tracy Laval Secretary - Kara Plamondon Social convener - Bonnie Tinker House chairman - Bob Jarvis. Bob plans to have the Chalet open every Saturday and Sunday 1-4 p.m. through the season, except when temperature/wind chills are on the low side. Bob will need assistance on this - please give him a call at 687-3764 to let him know which Saturday/ Sunday you might be available. A potluck social is planned for Saturday evening, February 19, with candles illuminating the Moonlight and/or the Half-Valley trail. The Ski Club has a number of events coming up, so mark these dates on your calendars. The Revival Loppet will be Sunday, February 6, and the 30th annual Centaloppet will be Sunday, February 20. Two instructors from Saskatchewan's Ski Fit North will be in town January 20-21 to coach the Creighton Kodiaks (Creighton School) Ski Team. They have also agreed to offer instruction to local beginner to intermediate skiers out at the Flin Flon Ski Club, at no charge, on the evening of January 20, starting at 7 p.m. Everybody is welcome. For further information, call Larry at 687-5073, or Dave at 687-4317. The tour around the Carlisle Loop on January 9 was a great success with nine participants. The next tour, on Sunday January 23, will be along the north end of the McRae Trail, a distance about 7 kilometres. The north end of the McRae trail was packed last week. Skiers planning to join the group should meet at the Chalet at 1:30 p.m. "The trails are in better shape now than they have been for years, so get it while you can," said Dave Price. "Spring is just around the corner!" Price would also like to remind people about the Club's rules regarding dogs: "I really like dogs, however there are all sorts of reasons why we prefer for you not to have them tag along with you on our most heavily used trails," he said. "On the other hand, we don't mind too much if you take them with you on the trails south of the Company Road (the Carlisle Loop and McRae trails).
