The Flin Flon Bombers continue to make changes to improve their hockey team. On Wednesday, the Bombers welcomed 18-year-old goaltender Dale Pettit from the Swan Valley Stampeders. Pettit, from Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, played most of his minor hockey in The Pas and is no stranger to hockey in the area. This season, Pettit was undefeated with the Stampeders, with a record of 2-0-1, a save percentage of .922 and a goals against average of 2.59. "Bringing in Dale makes it more of a competitive situation for all three guys," said head coach Ryan Hoffman. "It makes everybody work harder to earn their ice time." The arrival of Pettit leaves the Bombers undecided on rotation for the weekend. The plan is to let the newcomer get a practice or two under his belt before making a decision on who will start the games against the Battlefords North Stars this Friday and Saturday. Pettit became available after Swan Valley picked up an import goaltender from Ontario. Teams usually don't like to carry two import goalies. However, there are no import problems in Flin Flon, as the Bombers currently have six of the allowed eight a team can dress in any game.
