The OCN Blizzard of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League are pleased to announce the hiring of Mr. Drew Schoneck as Head Coach and GM. Schoneck is from Abbey, Saskatchewan and has extensive hockey experience as a player and coach. He played with the Yorkton Terriers in 1990 and went on to play with three teams in the WHL (Swift Current, Tacoma and Tri-City). Schoneck also played five years of professional hockey. His most recent coaching assignment was in the ECHL this past season where he was an Assistance Coach with the Las Vegas Wranglers. Schonech has also served as an Assistant Coach with the Kelowna Rockets, Tri-City Americans and the Prince Albert Raiders of the WHL. MJHL news In other MJHL news, the Swan Valley Stampeders are pleased to announce that two players have accepted scholarships for the upcoming season, with 20 year-old centreman Brennen Giroux and 20 year-old forward Justin Wright both attending Brock University next season. The Brock University Badgers play in the OUA conference of the CIS. Brock University Badger head coach Murray Nystrom commented, "We are extremely excited to add these two young men to our program. Both are community oriented people and are interested in helping our program reach the highest possible level."
