The Battlefords North Stars and Humboldt Broncos have each named their new assistant coaches. The Stars are looking to former player Dustin Bru to help out Blaine Sautner. The 22-year-old Bru played last season with the Ministikwin Islanders, who lost in the finals of the Allan Cup. In addition to having SJHL experience, Bru played in the WHL with Moose Jaw and Brandon. He had 35-goals in 41-games with the Stars in his 20-year-old season of 2002-03. The Saskatoon native is also going to continue his schooling through correspondence coures. The Humboldt Broncos have announced the hiring of Jason Tatarnic. Tatarnic played for Notre Dame between 1991-1993. He was most recently the Head Coach with the Dryden Ice Dogs of the SIJHL (Superior International Junior Hockey League). Tatarnic, essentially, assumes the majority of the work Dean Brockman had last season. With Brockman becoming the full-time head coach/general manager, it will be Tatarnic handling the bulk of the marketing. The La Ronge Ice Wolves have announced the hiring of Ryan Parent as their new assistant coach. Parent is a graduate from Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, where he picked up a Masters of Science Degree in Physical Education. Previous coaching experience includes stints in Junior 'B' and most recently in the Czech Republic, where he worked for the last two seasons.
