The number of people who suffer from neck pain is staggering, and it's predicted to increase as more and more people use computers and cars. At the moment, studies indicate that approximately nine percent of men and 12 percent of women suffer from neck pain on any given day. What many people don't realize is that necks have a far greater range of motion than backs and for neck problems to be prevented this range of motion must be used. Unfortunately, too many of us spend a great part of the day sitting in one position, which means that frequent flexibility exercises are the only option. Luckily, many of these exercises can be done without getting up from your chair! Here are a few tips to help you get started. hold each one for 10 seconds, relax, and repeat 10 times. You'll be amazed by the difference they'll make if you do them several times during the day: Pull your shoulder blades back together as if you are trying to create a furrow in the middle of your back. Hunch your shoulders forward. Shrug your shoulders up as high as you can. Stretch your arms above your head with your fingers interlocked and your palms facing upward.
