The Flin Flon Bombers are working towards the end of the 2009-10 regular season. Taking on the Battlefords North Stars this past weekend in a double header, the Bombers now have a week-long wait before heading to La Ronge this weekend. The Maroon and White wrap up the regular season with their final game against the Melfort Mustangs next Tuesday. As always between the Mustangs and the Bombers, Tuesday's game should prove to be interesting. Going into this past weekend, the Bombers sat with 72 points Ð which was good for first place in the Bauer Conference Ð while the Stars sat just below them with 68 points. Following the Bombers' last game, against the Nipawin Hawks, head coach and GM Mike Reagan said the weekend against the Stars was going to be "entertaining." With what was expected to be the equivalent of playoff hockey, the top two Northern teams came together for the last time in the regular season. Previous to the games, Reagan had said he hoped to see plenty of fans out in the Whitney Forum as he was hoping it was going to be a weekend full of entertaining hockey. Leading the Sherwood Conference, as of Friday morning, the Weyburn Red Wings had 74 points Ð which was good enough first first place in the SJHL. But the Red Wings had two games this past weekend, one against Nipawin and one against Humboldt.
