Evan Smith has decided he's ready to become a Bomber. The 18-year-old from Outlook, SK, traded with Jesse Gulbraa for former Bomber captain Clayton Geiger, who was dealt to the Battlefords' North Stars, was expected to arrive Wednesday, according to Flin Flon Bombers interim coach/GM Brad Snyder. "Evan Smith will be here this evening (Nov. 2)," Snyder says. "He'll be on the ice tomorrow practicing." As for Gulbraa, Snyder wasn't sure. The Bombers are going to try and move him. "Looks like he's made up his mind to start playing old-timers at an early age," Snyder says, as he's disappointed to not have Gulbraa report. "I thought that as a 20-year-old he should make smart decisions, and I don't think that is a smart decision in his best interest." The Bombers coach is looking forward to his newest defenseman joining the club. "He's a good hockey player, he's got lots of relatives here in town, he's going to feel comfortable," states Snyder, on the 6-3, 165 pound defenseman, who had one assist in five games. "He's going to step right into the lineup and he's going to give us help that we need in the backend." Snyder will make his decision during the next few days whether to dress Smith who, if he did report as expected, will be able to practice a few times before the Bombers take on the Weyburn Red Wings and Humboldt Broncos at the Whitney Forum tomorrow and Sunday.
