Calendars of events have been spread throughout Creighton Community School for summer programs for the students to take part in. To lend a hand, the school has hired Marlee Salamondra to assist Tracy Salamondra for the summer. ÒI am excited to have the opportunity to work in this community as I was born and raised here and feel that I have much to contribute,Ó said Marlee in a newsletter posted throughout the school. Marlee will be doing a similar job as Tracy did during the school year, only the 21-year-old will be working more with toddlers and at the LionÕs Spray Pool. ÒAnyone who needs me, IÕm pretty much theirs,Ó says Marlee. The local has spent the last three years in Winnipeg at the University of Manitoba majoring in Child Development Physcology with a newly changed minor of Adolescent Development. And although the Recreation Worker job isnÕt exactly what she went to school for, she says there is a common link. ÒJust being in the environment with kids is something I enjoy,Ó she says. Some of the things Marlee has planned for the summer so far are Lunch Hour Soccer games, road hockey tournaments, Decorate Your Bike day, theme days for the Spray Pool and volleyball games. ÒBeing an extremely active person,Ó she said in the newsletter, ÒI am very thrilled to work with children and people of all ages to help build us a healthier and more active community.Ó Marlee says she has met the majority of the children in the community, but she is looking forward to meeting the senior citizens and those people she may not otherwise meet. ÒI look forward to meeting tons of new people and getting to know the community that I love on an even deeper level,Ó it read. Anyone wishing to contact Marlee can do so at Creighton Community School at 688-7409 or 271-0721.
