Hockey fans laughed in 2003 when TSN's Maggie the Monkey picked the Anaheim Mighty Ducks to beat the Detroit Red Wings, but nobody was laughing when the Ducks swept the Wings in four straight games. Maggie rode the Ducks all the way to the Stanley Cup finals, where she was wrong for the first time when the New Jersey Devils found a way to solve J.S. Giguere. So who did the monkey pick this year? In the first round, Maggie was a dismal two-for-eight, selecting only the Philadelphia Flyers and Toronto Maple Leafs to move on to the second round. For the second round, Maggie sided with the expert panel to take Tampa Bay over Montreal. The panel was split between San Jose and Colorado, but Maggie looks pretty good so far, taking the Sharks who now lead the series 3-0. Four of six experts chose the Flyers to knock of the Wings this round, but Maggie is looking for Ed Belfour to rally the leafs to come from behind. Not one single expert chose Calgary to beat Detroit, but Maggie likes their chances, picking the Flames to win the series. You can follow Maggie's predictions on tsn.ca. Ð T.B.
