Flin Flon and Creighton organizations continue to receive grant money from the Moffat Family Fund. Created in December 2001 to give Canadians 'equal opportunities and to develop potential,' according to a Northern Neighbours news release, grants continue to help the Flin Flon area flourish. Eight local organizations received grant money from Northern Neighbours _ which received the money from the Moffat Family _ last week. 'The Fund is designated for distribution in communities where the Moffat family operated their media businesses _ radio, television, and cable,' read the news release. The following organizations and projects received the following grants: Channing Recreation Association - $3,000 to purchase an Atco trailer to serve as a warmup shelter for the outdoor skating rink; Flin Flon Ski Club - $4,894 to purchase trail grooming equipment; Town of Creighton - $10,000 towards the upgrade of the Lions' Spray Pool; Simonhouse Bible Camp _ $4,356 to purchase paddleboards for the camp; Creighton Community SChool - $3,500 to purchase and install permanent wall matting at the school gymnasium; Flin Flon School Division - $5,000 towards the redevelopment of Queens Park; Special Olympics - $3,000 towards the development for Bocce courts in Flin Flon; and Joseph H. Kerr School - $3,000 towards the purchase of a 3D printer. Earlier this year, the Northern Neighbours Foundation approved the following local grants: Flin Flon Arts Council's NorVa - $1,500 towards NorVA's Visiting Artist Enrichment Program; SPCA - $5,000 towards landscaping around their new building; Flin Flon School Division (Ecole McIsaac School) - $2,500 towards the playground upgrade; and Association for Community Living - $4,200 to purchase computer and desk.
