The Portage Terriers have a four-game winning streak, were first in the Sherwood Division and overall in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League through October 3. Portage was 6-2-1. The Winkler Flyers lead the Addison Division and were second overall. Winkler is 5-0-1 and has one overtime loss, the latter 5-4 to Portage on home ice October 1, for 12 points in seven games. The Winnipeg Saints were second in the Addison Division, at 5-1-0 and one overtime loss, for 11 points in seven games. Christopher Benias had one goal and two assists September 28 in Portage's 6-4 win over the Dauphin Kings in Dauphin. Goalie Stefan Drew had 30 saves September 30 in Portage's 4-2 win over the Winnipeg South Blues in Winnipeg. Bryan Bouchard had three assists October 1 in Portage's win in Winkler. Portage rallied after falling behind 3-0 after 13 minutes and 39 seconds. Drew made 32 stops October 3 in a 4-1 win over the Swan Valley Stampeders on home ice in Portage la Prairie. Rookie Dean Yakura of the Southeast Blades leads league scorers with 10 assists and 13 points in 10 games.
