The five-time champion OCN Blizzard had three wins in three games during the week ending November 9 to open a seven-point lead in the Sherwood Division in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. OCN is 18-1-2 and has two overtime losses, for 40 points in 23 games. The Neepawa Natives have a 15-8-1 record and two overtime losses in 26 games. The Selkirk Steelers have a seven-point lead in the Addison Division, at 17-7-0 and one overtime loss, for 35 points in 25 games. The Winkler Flyers are 13-9-1 and have one overtime loss in 24 games. Kiel Wilgosh and Patrick Power had one goal and one assist each November 4 in OCN's 4-3 win over the Swan Valley Stampeders on home ice in The Pas. Hugues Verpaelst and league-leading scorer Aaron Starr had one goal and one assist each November 7 in OCN's 6-3 win over the Portage Terriers on home ice. Goalie Pierre-Olivier Girouard made 39 stops November 8 in OCN's 3-2 win over Portage on home ice. Starr, 20, leads the league and CJAHL with 31 goals in 23 games. Starr leads the league and is tied for the CJAHL lead with 51 points. Veteran teammate Michael Young, 20, leads the league with 29 assists in 23 games. Riley Weselowski contributed two goals and two assists November 4 in Neepawa's 5-4 overtime win over the Dauphin Kings on home ice. Marco Pellizzari scored four times November 6 in Neepawa's 4-2 win over the Winnipeg South Blues in Winnipeg. Pellizzari totalled six points in three games and was named the league's Old Dutch player of the week. Goalie Greg Goodwin had 15 saves November 8 in Neepawa's 4-0 win in Dauphin. Veteran Jamie Dowhayko had four assists November 7 in Selkirk's 8-2 win over Winkler on home ice. Dustin Hughes accumulated one goal and three assists November 9 in Selkirk's 7-3 win over the Winnipeg Saints on home ice. Justin Todd had three goals November 4 in Winkler's 5-3 win over Winnipeg South on home ice. Brandon Heck had two goals and one assist November 8 in Winkler's 7-3 win over the Waywayseecappo Wolverines on home ice. Goalie D'Arcy Munro had 26 saves November 5 in the Saints' 5-0 win over Dauphin on home ice. Starr was chosen the league's player of the month for September/October. He had a league-leading 29 goals and 47 points in 20 games in that span. Weselowski, 18, was selected the league's defenceman of the month. He totalled 17 assists and 20 points in September/October. Brock Trotter of the Dauphin Kings was named the league's rookie of the month. Trotter, 16, had 11 goals and 22 points in 20 games. Munro was picked the league's goalie of the month. Munro had a saves percentage of .913 and 10 wins in September and October.
