The five-time champion OCN Blizzard and the Neepawa Natives each won three times in as many games in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League during the week ending October 5. OCN and Neepawa advanced into a tie for first place in the Sherwood Division with the Portage Terriers. OCN has a 6-0-1 record and one overtime loss, for 14 points in eight games. Portage and Neepawa are each 6-2-1 with one overtime loss in 10 games. The Selkirk Steelers have assumed a five-point lead in the Addison Division and are first overall. Selkirk is 7-3-0 and has one overtime loss, for 15 points in 11 games. Mark Wallmann scored three times October 3 in OCN's 8-4 win over the Winnipeg South Blues on home ice in The Pas. Veteran Aaron Starr had two goals and one assist October 4 in OCN's 6-3 win over the Waywayseecappo Wolverines on home ice. Starr leads league scorers with 11 goals in eight games. Keil Wilgosh accumulated three goals and two assists October 5 in OCN's 9-1 win over Waywayseecappo on home ice. Danny Johnston scored three times September 30 in Neepawa's 4-3 win over the Winkler Flyers in Winkler. Goalie Greg Goodwin had 25 saves October 3 in Neepawa's 3-2 win over Portage on home ice. Marco Pellizzari totalled three goals and one assist October 5 in Neepawa's 6-5 overtime win over Selkirk on home ice. Pellizzari had five goals and seven points in three games to earn the selection as the league's Old Dutch player of the week. Neil Dawson matched Pellizzari's output for Selkirk. Tim Plett had one goal and two assists September 30 in Portage's 7-6 win in Waywayseecappo. Colin Slobodian contributed three goals and one assist October 1 in Portage's 6-1 win over the Southeast Blades on Southeast's home ice. Steven Sleep had two goals and one assist September 30 in Selkirk's 9-3 win over Southeast on home ice. Goalie John Douglas stopped all 27 shots in 45 minutes and six seconds in relief October 3 in Selkirk's 5-2 win over the Dauphin Kings on home ice. Selkirk veteran Clifford Ketchen leads league scorers with 13 assists and 21 points in 10 games. Stefan Drew of Portage leads league goalies with a 2.00 goals against average and .929 saves percentage in 240 minutes. Jonathan Meyer of OCN leads league goalies with a 5-0-1 won-lost-tied record in 365 minutes. As a result of participating in the line brawl in the game on Friday, October 3 the following OCN players have been suspended. Paul Wallman, Taylor Emmerson, Brett Needham, Tyler Ryhorchuk and Donald Melnyk were all suspended for two games. Resulting from the same game, Daniel Giesbrecht, Dane Crowley, Garrett Moore, Ryan Bartle and Matt Tkachyk of the Winnipeg South Blues were all suspended for two games.
