The Neepawa Natives won twice in two games during the week ending January 23 to advance within two points of first place in the Sher-Wood Division, and overall, in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. The Portage Terriers remain the Sher-Wood and overall leaders with a 31-13-4 record. Neepawa is 28-10-6 and has two overtime losses, for 64 points in 46 games, with two games in hand. The Winkler Flyers continue to lead the Addison Division and are third overall. Winkler has 58 points in 51 games. Veteran Dustin Norman scored three times in the first 16 minutes and 57 seconds January 19 in Neepawa's 7-4 win over the Swan Valley Stampeders in Swan River. Mark Hartman had two goals January 23 in Neepawa's 6-4 win over Portage on home ice. Kip Workman had two assists January 21 in Portage's 2-1 win over the Selkirk Steelers on home ice in Portage la Prairie. Winkler veteran Josh Froese continues to lead league scorers. Froese has 66 points, including 39 assists, in 51 games. Ryan Garbutt of the Winnipeg South Blues leads league scorers with 32 goals in 50 games. AJ Tucker of the Wayayseecappo Wolverines leads league scorers with 41 assists in 47 games. Andrew Loewen of Neepawa leads league goalies with a 2.61 goals against average in 1,750 minutes. Brett Koscielny of the Dauphin Kings leads league goalies with a .925 saves percentage in 2,217 minutes. Stefan Drew of Portage leads league goalies with a 22-9-4 won-lost-tied record in 2,066 minutes. Drew is tied for the league lead with four shutouts.
