The Manitoba Junior Hockey League wishes to announce that they will be launching an on-line scoring system for the 2005-2006 season. The MJHL is the first Junior A league in Canada to design and develop an "in-house" on-line scoring system. One other Junior A league (OPJHL) has signed an agreement to purchase a system from a non-league supplier. The MJHL on-line scoring system will feature several things. Game stats will be entered into a laptop computer by each official scorekeeper. Each laptop will be connected to the Internet via wireless or direct connection. As the game stats are entered into the scorer's laptop they will be updated on the MJHL website for all viewers to see. Essentially, visitors to the MJHL website will be able to follow the MJHL games by seeing the details of goals and penalties as they occur. The on-line scoring system will also allow the MJHL to shorten the time by which final game summaries will be posted to the League website for the use of fans, parents and media. MJHL Commissioner Kim Davis said, "The Manitoba Junior Hockey League is proud to be a leader in Junior A hockey in Canada by developing this technology for the benefit of our fans, parents and sponsors." During the current playoff season the MJHL has conducted a test of the on-line scoring system and the test has passed all testing parameters. Training on the use of the new system will take place in August and September prior to the 2005-2006 season. The MJHL has also developed an alternate version of retrieving game score updates for small mobile device users (cell phone, BlackBerry, etc.). This can be accessed by logging on to www.mjhlhockey.ca/mobilescore.htm each night for updated game scores.5/17/2005
