The Portage Terriers had two wins and one overtime loss in three games during the week ending Sept. 21 to build a solid lead in the Sherwood Division in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. Portage has a 4-0-0 record and one overtime loss for nine points. The Winkler Flyers lead the Addison Division, at 4-1-0. The Selkirk Steelers are 3-1-0. Cliff Ketchen had two goals and one assist Sept. 20 in Portage's 5-3 win over the Southeast Blades on home ice in Portage la Prairie. Ketchen leads league scorers with 11 points, including five goals, in five games and was chosen the league's Old Dutch player of the week. Goalie Stefan Drew had 32 saves Sept. 21 in Portage's 5-1 win over the Waywayseecappo Wolverines on home ice. Chad Wrixon had two goals and one assist Sept. 16 in Winkler's 5-4 overtime win over Portage on home ice. Goalie Matt Neufeld had 37 saves Sept. 20 in Winkler's 4-2 win over the Winnipeg Saints in Winnipeg. Goalie John Douglas made 46 stops Sept. 16 in Selkirk's 4-2 win over the Neepawa Natives on home ice. Goalie Justin Harris had 36 saves Sept. 19 in Selkirk's 2-1 win over the Saints in Winnipeg. Ryan Turner of Winkler leads league scorers with seven assists in five games.
