The MJHL League Final is now a best of five affair, after the Selkirk Steelers evened the series against the Portage Terriers with an overtime win on Sunday. Four goals were scored in the first period, with nothing more through 40 minutes of play. Andrew Jackman and Steve Haddon scored power play goals for the Terriers in the opening frame, while James Knight and Chris Stelmack replied for the Steelers. After regulation, Portage had out shot Selkirk 42-27, including 19-6 in the third period. The Steelers poured it on in the extra stanza, doubling the Terriers with shots 6-3. Adam Sergerie scored an unassisted goal at 8:04 to tie the series. Selkirk goaltender Justin Harris had to be sharp to give his team a chance to win. Stefan Drew was in net for the losing side. Portage scored two power play goals on eight advantages, while Selkirk was held scoreless on four chances. Nearly 2,000 people attended the game in Selkirk. Game three will be played tonight in Portage. The winner of the series will take on the SJHL champions in the Anavet Cup.
