The Winkler Flyers won twice in three games during the week ending January 18 to advance within 20 points of first place in the Addison Division in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, with three games in hand. The Selkirk Steelers lead the division and are second overall, at 36-13-0 and one overtime loss, for 73 points in 50 games. Winkler has a 24-18-2 record and three overtime losses. The five-time champion OCN Blizzard continues to lead the Sherwood Division and is the overall leader. OCN is 35-8-3 and has two overtime losses, for 75 points in 48 games. The Neepawa Natives won twice in three games and are second in the division, at 29-16-3 and three overtime losses, for 64 points in 51 games. The Portage Terriers have a 25-18-3 record and one overtime loss, for 54 points in 47 games. Teammate Skyler Berman contributed one goal and three assists. Matt Johnson chipped in with four assists for Selkirk. Justin Wise scored four times January 13 in Winkler's 7-4 win over the Winnipeg Saints on home ice. Goalie Matt Neufeld made 32 stops January 18 in Winkler's 4-1 win over the Winnipeg South Blues in Winnipeg. Veteran Aaron Starr had three goals January 16 in OCN's 7-3 win before 1,260 fans in Selkirk. Starr had two goals and one assist January 17 in OCN's 7-2 win over the Southeast Blades on Southeast's home ice. Starr, 20, leads the league and regained the CJAHL scoring lead with 92 points, including 48 goals, in 45 games. Starr totalled six goals and two assists in four games to assume a 17-point lead in the league scoring race. Mark Hartman had one goal and two assists January 15 in Neepawa's 4-3 win over the Blues in Winnipeg. Goalie Greg Goodwin had 34 saves January 18 in Neepawa's 1-0 win over Portage on home ice. Goodwin, 20, leads the league with three shutouts in 1,933 minutes. Tyler Czuba had two goals and two assists January 16 in the Swan Valley Stampeders' 8-5 win in Neepawa. Kyle Lopez accumulated one goal and three assists January 16 in the Dauphin Kings' 8-3 win over Southeast on home ice. Michael Young of OCN leads the league with 53 assists in 46 games. Pierre-Olivier Girouard of OCN leads league goalies with a 2.78 goals against average and .921 saves percentage in 1,229 minutes. D'Arcy Munro of the Saints leads league goalies with 21 wins in 2,299 minutes.
